Specialist: Periodontics
We are so pleased to have an in-house periodontist on our team who is able to see our patients in a timely, comfortable and accessible manner. An in-office specialist means better communication with your dentist, and collaborative care for you.
Tissue Grafts
Soft tissue grafting may be necessary to combat gum recession that has become sensitive or extensive. Gum disease, grinding, trauma, aging, over brushing, or poor tooth position are the leading causes of gum recession which can lead to root exposure. If left untreated, this inflammation will progress, and your teeth may become loose or fall out when enough healthy gum and bone tissue no longer support them.
Bone/Osseous Grafts
Bone grafts are done to help reinforce the jaw bone that's responsible for stabilizing your teeth. Any time a tooth is removed, bone loss is a natural consequence. Grafts help counteract the natural shrinking, preventing long-term problems, and provide stability for implants and facial contour.
Implant Surgery
Implants are the best option for tooth replacement. When a tooth is lost due to injury or disease, a person can experience complications such as bone loss, altered speech, or changes to chewing efficiency that result in discomfort. Replacing a lost tooth with a dental implant prevents bone loss in your jaw. They are the best mimic for nature. Dental implants can significantly improve a person's health and quality of life.
Smile Recontouring/ Aesthetic Gum Lift
Say good bye to your gummy smile! Gum re-contouring removes excess tissue and reshapes your smile line. The results can be quite dramatic and improve the appearance of short teeth, asymmetric gums, long gums or gum overgrowth from inflammation or orthodontics.
Crown Lengthening
When a tooth breaks or decays under the gum line, we must be able to reach the margins of the break or cavity to fix it. This may require moving some soft tissue and/or bone out of the way. This procedure is called crown lengthening because it increases that portion of tooth structure that is not covered by tissues. This exposure allows us to restore your tooth with good longterm prognosis.
Treatment of Periodontal Disease
When gum disease progresses beyond the reach of a hygienist's tools, we require a surgical approach to remove the harmful products of disease. Improved access and treatment by a specialist will most effectively manage cases of moderate to severe bone loss and tooth mobility.
