General Dental Care
Mint Dentistry is prevention focused. Our goal is to help you maintain a healthy mouth for a lifetime. Should interceptive dental therapy be required, we are proud to provide a full complement of modern dental care treatment options, individualized to you.
Fixing Broken or Decayed Teeth
A cavity is the result of tooth decay. Fortunately, cavities are easily treatable, especially if they’re detected early. In many cases, treatment may include little more than removing the decayed or broken tooth structure, and filling it with a biocompatible material. We use tooth-coloured composite resin which is highly customizable to match your tooth’s appearance as well as protect your tooth’s exposed structure. Should a greater percentage of your tooth need coverage, we are able to meet these needs with stronger porcelain or gold onlays or crowns.
Cleanings and Periodontal Therapy
Teeth build up debris and soft deposits over time. This plaque clings to your teeth and eventually solidifies. This biofilm can create problems like chronic bad breath, cavities, gum disease and more. At home, you can brush and floss most plaque away, but any spot you miss will quickly harden up. Once it does, it cannot be scrubbed away with toothpaste and water; it must be removed with specialized tools. Routine professional cleanings with trained dental hygienists remove this buildup and prevent bacteria-driven bone, tissue and teeth problems.
Whitening
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic treatment that involves applying a topical bleaching agent to the surfaces of your teeth. The professional-strength gel is strong enough to remove most forms of extrinsic staining caused by foods, beverages, tobacco products or poor oral hygiene without causing any harm to your healthy tooth enamel.
Root Canals
If your tooth becomes internally infected, or suffers nerve damage, it means the pain is within the pulp chamber of the tooth. The pulp chamber houses the nerves and blood vessels in your living tooth. Root canal therapy removes these unhealthy or infected tissues from the tooth, relieving the intense pain you may have had. Following your root canal treatment, you’ll no longer have to deal with discomfort in your tooth, and will be able to keep the tooth in your mouth.
Crowns, Onlays and Bridges
A dental onlay or crown is designed to partially or completely cover a tooth that has been damaged or has lost significant structural integrity. With this restoration in place, your tooth can remain healthy while the restoration absorbs the pressure of your bite. Modern crowns achieve the goal of restoring compromised teeth while improving their appearance. A bridge is designed to replace a missing tooth while also restoring strength and structure to adjacent compromised teeth. We can talk to you about the options right for you.
Implants
Dental implants are small biocompatible titanium or porcelain posts that are the only prosthetic option to address tooth loss while also preventing the potential consequences of jaw-bone erosion, tipping of teeth and further tooth loss. They are the best option for replacing a missing tooth.
