Pediatrics and Infants

We love kids! Mint Dentistry is happy to welcome your entire family to our practice. Good dental habits and check ups set children up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and healthy function. Our appointments are age appropriate, educational and fun. We want to create early positive experiences so that your child always finds their dental appointments pleasant and comfortable. Baby's First Visit

The Canadian Dental Association recommends children visit the dentist by 1 year of age, or within 6 months of the eruption of their first tooth. During this time, we will check for healthy development of the face and mouth, review nutrition and oral hygiene techniques for your growing baby and support you as you care for your newest family member.

Lip and Tongue Tie Evaluation

Feeding your newborn may be one of the very first tasks we can help you with. Lip and tongue ties may make breastfeeding difficult for baby and painful for mom. If you suspect your child may have an issue, we are happy to discuss this with you, examine baby, make recommendations or treat. If you suspect your child has an issue, please don't wait. We see children as early as a few days old.

Kids' Checkups

With parents, we are happy to review the latest dental techniques, information and products to keep your kids healthy. Protecting your child's smile while playing sports is essential when they are growing or have braces, especially when their adult teeth are just emerging and erupting at all kinds of angles! Sealants

Sealants are a quick, easy and inexpensive way to protect teeth and prevent cavities during the vulnerable phases of a child's life. The best times to apply sealants are when the posterior teeth first erupt between 5-7 years of age, and again at 11-14 years of age. Sealants can protect teeth from decay for up to 10 years and are an effective part of your child's care plan.

Orthodontic Evaluation and Space Maintainers

Did you know the Canadian Association of Orthodontists recommend a child's first visit be at 7 years of age? Early detection of jaw misalignment, crowding or various other issues can be conservatively treated or prevented instead of waiting for problems to worsen, or become more complex with age. Early management means less involved care, less expense and happier kids. A win for everyone!
