Avulsed Tooth

One of the most traumatic injuries in dentistry is knocking a tooth out. An avulsed tooth requires immediate treatment to save the tooth. Pick up the tooth by the crown (not the roots) and gently rinse it off with clean water or milk. Do not scrub it or use soap. Place the tooth back into its socket if you are able to. If not, place it in a glass of milk or saline solution, or in your mouth beside your cheek so that saliva may cover it. See the dentist immediately. Care within the first 30 minutes yields the best results.
