Hygiene Services
Our registered dental hygienists are knowledgeable experts in tissue and bone health. Our hygiene treatment plans are evidence-based, clinically sound and individualized to your unique oral health needs, values, and priorities.
Teeth Cleaning
Dental cleanings, or periodontal therapies, are essential for maintaining optimal oral health and function. Your hygienist will remove bacteria, plaque and hardened calculus buildup from your teeth. This accumulated debris and biofilm will cause tooth decay, inflamed and bleeding gums and eventually, tooth and bone loss.
Periodontal Root Planing/Scaling with Specialist
Deeper dental cleanings, or scaling and root planing, are reserved for patients who have longstanding accumulated debris on their teeth and roots and present with active periodontal disease. These patients may see blood on their toothbrushes, have mobile teeth, or bad breath. Hygienists will work under the gum line to flush out biofilm and calculus deep on the roots of the teeth. These appointments may take longer, or require anesthesia as we return you to health.
Desensitization
For some patients, tooth sensitivity is a way of life. For those patients where grafts or fillings are not appropriate, we may apply a desensitizing agent to allow you to maintain good oral hygiene, and enjoy the foods and drink you love without suffering from pain.
Laughing Gas Sedation Assisted Cleanings
For some patients, dental appointments cause so much anxiety that they shy away from consistent care. We understand! We offer nitrous oxide sedation with local anesthesia (dental numbing) to make your dental care pain-free and comfortable. With Netflix or Disney+ on the screens, and compassionate clinicians, we will work with you to re-frame dentistry as a positive experience.
Oral Hygiene Instruction
Have you ever been shown how to properly brush or floss? We know you've all been told to do it but has anyone actually taken the time to demonstrate and explain? Did you know there is an optimal order to brushing, flossing and mouthwash? We are happy to sit down with you and teach you how to optimize your efforts for good oral hygiene.
Cold Sores
Cold sores caused by the Herpes simplex virus can be triggered by stress, illness, a weakened immune system, changing hormone levels or even the environment. While we cannot see you for a dental cleaning when you have an active outbreak (we don't want to make it worse!), we can help you reduce the painful symptoms and speed up the healing process. Please let us know if you have a cold sore prior to your dental appointment so that we may suggest some treatment options to help you heal.
